Gift Card holders

I was looking for a different way to wrap gift cards and found this link last night- http://www.thesunsethouse.com/2008/12/11/mr-twigster-says-thanks/ and thought they were really cute.  I made this one last night for my mother-in-law's gift and have a couple more to make.  Super easy, but cute and not so boring.  :)  Sorry for the quality of the pictures...  I have been kicked out of my normal craft area for our Christmas tree and the lighting isn't as good.

Christmas gifts for teachers

A friend made one of these for me at Halloween and I thought it was so clever- then I found the tutorial here: http://scrapadoodledee.blogspot.com/2010/11/fabulous-friday-and-tutorial.html- and knew I had to do them for my kids' teachers for Christmas.  I modified my pattern a little, but same results...  I used Bazzill Basics cardstock that had a bit of a shine for the poinsettia (cut from the Winter Wonderland cartridge) and for the holder, then I used removable Glue Dots to hold the hand sanitizer and gift card in.  The pictures aren't great- the shine on the paper made it a little difficult- but I think they turned out cute.  I hope the teachers love them!

Sewing projects

Wow, over a month since my last post...  That's awful!  I have lots of cards to post, but today, I'm just posting 1 and my sewing projects.

These 3 purses are for my girlfriends for our Christmas gift exchange.  I just need to add buttons to the blue and black ones.

This is the start of a bag that I am making for a friend to give as gifts- I made one for her already and have this one & 2 others to go.  I'll post pictures of the final products.
This is a quilt top that I've had done for some time and will be finishing for a white elephant exchange at my family's Christmas party- the striped material is the backing.

And last, one card- I made 6 of these for a swap through Crafty Card Gallery.  Looking forward to getting the other cards from the swap.  I really like the colors and texture on this- I thought it was fun.  I've been trying to find more ribbon so I could make some more like this, but it was from the $1 spool collection at JoAnn's and they don't seem to have it anymore. :(

Christmas cards for Operation Write Home

So, I'm not good about sending cards out to my family and friends...  But, Operation Write Home is such an amazing cause, that I did get in the Christmas spirit early.  Maybe I will keep up the cardmaking after the deadline for OWH and actually send out some of my own this year.  :)

I just realized that I forgot to take pictures of the quilt I made before I gave it to the happy couple.  I will get my friend to take some pictures for me so I can post them....

Here are some pictures of the cards I made. The first ones were made with a chipboard set that came with a cardmaking magazine I just bought.

These were made with different stamps and little help from my new Cricut Imagine.  I used the Winter Wonderland one to make the poinsettia, trees and snowman, with color from the Imagine.  The holly was a brad set with the leaves and berry brad.

Inspiration for this one came from this post: http://acreativeneed.wordpress.com/2008/10/10/a-cuttlebug-christmas/  I thought this was very classy- I may try to find a different stamp...

The rest are with my Imagine and some stamps- but not Christmas themed...  I'm really liking the Imagine and can't wait to have more time to play with it!

Huge Giveaway- check this out!

I found this giveaway through a Facebook posting of a good friend and fellow card maker.   :)  She used Elmer products to create a super cute wall hanging for her craft area.  I need to use that as inspiration to create something bright and cheery for my craft area.  Check out her blog if you get a chance.  She's got some great layouts- might even motivate me to start scrapbooking...

Well...

I haven't had much time for card making lately.  I am working on a quilt for a special lady who is getting married next month...  I have to have it done in time to have my mom help me with the binding- for some reason I haven't been able to get that down yet.  Hopefully having someone show me will make it click...  :)  Pictures of the quilt to come after the wedding...

Operation Write Home Stars and Stripes blog Challenge #34

The Operation Write Home Stars and Stripes blog has a sketch challenge going on right now to make a Thank You card with the following sketch and the color yellow:

Here is my take on the design- I actually have 2, but I think I like the first one better:

Thanks for checking out my cards...  Please leave comments- I love advise and constructive criticism.

Operation Write Home day and 2 birthday cards

My bible study group got together this weekend for our Operation Write Home day- and we came away with 73 cards!  I whipped out a few cards today and raided my stash of completed cards and have a total of 92 cards to send in.  I'm going to try to get a few more done this week so I can send an even 100.

This is our haul from our card making day, not including duplicates or the ones I took from my stash:
Birthday
Thinking of You
Just Because
Holiday
These are the ones that I finished up today- I found some great love/anniversary stickers, so that is the theme for these.

That's it for the Operation Write Home for now- I think I captured all of the cards, but may have missed a few. I'm pretty excited about what we did and look forward to having an opportunity to do this again.

I made these cards for my sisters for their birthdays.  I've been looking for a way to use these fabric flowers and I think these turned out cute...

Operation Write Home

This weekend,  I am getting together with the awesome ladies from my bible study to make cards for Operation Write Home.  Most of the ladies say they aren't crafty, so I created some sample cards for inspiration.

A card; 2 bags; an index card, um, thing; some inspiration; and an idea

I made the follow card and bag for a friend from work.  She has been my mentor since April of last year.  I recently accepted a new position, so this is just a little thank for you all that she has done....

This bag is for me, I think.... It's the same pattern as the one above.  I got this in a kit at a quilt shop in Cannon Beach, Or.  It's the Amy Butler drawstring bag.

I made this for my "secret" pal at bible study- Jill again this week.  :)  There is a brad in the corner to hold index cards for bible verses and other inspiration.

I found these paper clips at Michael's this weekend and fell in love...  I have some images of what I would like to do with them, but we'll see how they actually turn out.

Lastly- I found this website today: http://operationwritehome.org/
If you make cards, will you consider sending some for this great cause?  I don't know about you, but I feel pretty good when I get a handmade card from someone...  Wouldn't it be great if the loved ones of the brave men and women serving our country could feel that too?
